What is Wellness?
The term wellness was first used by a physician named Halbert L. Dunn, who published a small booklet entitled “High Level Wellness” in 1961. Dr. Dunn saw wellness as a lifestyle approach for pursuing elevated states of physical and psychological well-being. He described it as a disciplined commitment to personal mastery. Just like the Army's recruiting slogan "Be all that you can be." We all want to do that but how do we get there? I'll answer this later...
Definition of Wellness: A Lifestyle choice to be in optimal condition physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, especially through healthy choices in all of these areas. Seeking alternative medicine outside the traditional "health Care" system. Individually having a balanced purposeful lifestyle that ultimately leads to a higher contribution to your family, work life, community, and the world. Leaving a positive footprint in the world you live in.
Subcategories of Wellness:
11. Sleep Wellness
12. Stress Wellness
All of these categories fall into two major areas Mental and Physical. The way in which we measure and have personally mastered Wellness is through Connection. Connection within ourselves that pour out into others around us and they become contagious to the community and the world.

Why is Wellness important?
Wellness means a lifestyle change for the better! Whether its to quit smoking, start exercising, educating yourself, getting rid of anger or a bad behavior in your life. Anything that leads to positive behavior. Without a goal or a vision we perish in our own unmotivated lifestyle that we have created ourselves or allowed outside influences to affect us negatively.
Without Wellness we can all become lazy, obese, greedy, inconsiderate, unthankful, bitter, depressed, etc. We will create this culture in the sphere that we live in.
Symptoms Of Unwellness in our Society/World: Poverty, unaffordable "health" care, Apathy (lack of social capital), broken families, religious differences, crime, war, Eco-cide (climate change).
Symptoms of Unwellness in Individuals: Addiction, Depression, Violent Behavior(physical/emotional), Chronic Illness/disease, Materialism/Greed, Male Postpartum Abandonment Syndrome (Epidemic Of disappearing Dads...disconnection in men...babies sleeping alone, not breastfeeding for 2 years), Religious extremism/fundamentalism.
